CENALTA YOUTH CONVERSATION ACADEMY - JULY 24, 2010
This camp has been a regular favorite for youth ages 12 to17 to learn hunting, fishing and camping skills. As part of our sponsorship initiative, PresidenT Kevin Wingert and Vice President Douglas Wood lent a helping hand during this July camp. The Youth Academy is located at the Chain Lakes Habitat land east of Morningside on secondary 604.
HIDE COLLECTION - JUNE 8, 2010
The Red Deer Fish and Game will NOT be collecting deer, elk and moose hides from sportsman for habitat purchases any longer. World markets are too depressed to continue to collect, process, and sell the hides. This follows the ban on selling shed antlers. The Habitat Trust Fund will now rely on you, the hunters to donate to the trust fund to purchase properties such as the Golden Ranches near Cooking Lake. Send your cheques to AFGA, Edmonton AB., C/O Habitat Trust Fund. To all you hunters who salvaged the hides last year, thanks for the support.
ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY - JUNE 4, 2010
One of our members, Steve Gordon, owner of Bay Lynx Bobcat of Red Deer, donated his equipment to go to Edmonton, pick up two pallets of Bentonite for our fish pond. On the way back, heavy rain on the bags of Bentonite prompted him to store the trailer and its load in his home garage until the weather improved a few days after. Red Deer Fish and Game is very appreciative of his volunteer efforts to complete the work on our fish pond for youth and all members . If you need backhoe or babcat work, give Steve Gordon a call @ 403-318-2585 or email him at baylynxbobcat@gmail.com. Way to go Steve!
